About Caroline
I was born and raised near Lancaster, Pennsylvania - a special place known both for its farmland and chocolate. From 2005-2009 I completed my undergraduate studies at Lafayette College, which included a memorable semester spent in Madrid, Spain. I headed to Boulder, Colorado for my graduate studies (2009-2014). During this period I used my free time to take advantage of Boulder's prime location to explore the Rockies, hike some "real" mountains, and get more comfortable on a pair of skis.
After completing my PhD I moved to Nice, France for a postdoctoral position (Université de Nice - Sophia Antipolis). Living in France was a welcome opportunity for me and my husband as we were able to explore and see more of Europe and navigate the intricacies of French culture together. In September 2017 I returned back to the USA and was a Research Professor in the Department of Chemical & Biological Engineering at Northwestern University for two years, enjoying Chicago and the proximity to Lake Michigan during this time. Since August 2019 I have been a member of the Department of Chemical Engineering & Materials Science at Michigan State University.
Outside of work, I enjoy traveling (see photos!), baking, and exploring the outdoors (hiking, swimming, camping, skiing) with my family: Seth, Luke (3 yo) and Lois (1 yo).
